महला ५ ॥ 

Fifth Mehl: 

 

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਣਾ ॥ 

 गोबिंद गोबिंद गोबिंद संगि नामदेउ मनु लीणा ॥ 

Naam Dev's mind was absorbed into Govind, Govind, Govind. 

 

ਆਢ ਦਾਮ ਕੋ ਛੀਪਰੋ ਹੋਇਓ ਲਾਖੀਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ 

आढ दाम को छीपरो होइओ लाखीणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ 

The calico-printer, worth half a shell, became worth lakhs. ||1||Pause|| 

 

ਬੁਨਨਾ ਤਨਨਾ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥ 

बुनना तनना तिआगि कै प्रीति चरन कबीरा ॥ 

Abandoning weaving and stretching thread, Kabeer enshrined love for the (Lord's lotus) feet. 

 

ਨੀਚ ਕੁਲਾ ਜੋਲਾਹਰਾ ਭਇਓ ਗੁਨੀਯ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ 

नीच कुला जोलाहरा भइओ गुनीय गहीरा ॥१॥ 

A weaver from a lowly clan, he became an ocean of virtue. ||1|| 

 

ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਢੁਵੰਤਾ ਢੋਰ ਨੀਤਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ 

रविदासु ढुवंता ढोर नीति तिनि तिआगी माइआ ॥ 

Ravi Daas, who used to carry dead cattle every day, renounced the world of Maya (worldly affairs). 

 

ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ 

परगटु होआ साधसंगि हरि दरसनु पाइआ ॥२॥ 

He became enlightened in the company of the saints, and obtained the vision of the Lord's Hri. ||2|| 

 

ਸੈਨੁ ਨਾਈ ਬੁਤਕਾਰੀਆ ਓਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸੁਨਿਆ ॥ 

सैनु नाई बुतकारीआ ओहु घरि घरि सुनिआ ॥ 

Sain, the barber, the village drudge, became known in every house. 

 

ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਸਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਭਗਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਗਨਿਆ ॥੩॥ 

हिरदे वसिआ पारब्रहमु भगता महि गनिआ ॥३॥ 

 The Supreme Brahm dwelt in his heart, and he was counted among the devotees. ||3|| 

 

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਜਾਟਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ 

इह बिधि सुनि कै जाटरो उठि भगती लागा ॥ 

Hearing in this way, Jaat Dhanna applied himself to devotional worship. 

 

ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਧੰਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ 

मिले प्रतखि गुसाईआ धंना वडभागा ॥४॥२॥ 

The (Lord) met Gosai (Dhanna) personally; Dhanna was supremely fortunate. ||4||2||
